A big
thank you to everyone who participated in our Week of the Young
Child activities and Family Fest! We were so lucky to have had
the best evening of Spring so far! It was a wonderful time and
it appeared that everyone enjoyed themselves! We raised almost
$1300.00 from food sales and the Silent Auction! Thank you
again to all who donated items or requested from businesses and
those who bid at the auction and enjoyed dinner! We could not
have done it without your support!
For those who may
not have heard, Miss Rachel is counting down the days to her wedding
on May 9th!! We all here at Today's Child
are very excited and
all wish her much
happiness!
On May 19th, we will be celebrating the 1st
anniversary of the opening of our Infant Program! It has been
so much fun watching our first "babies" Lucas P., Damian and
Madeline grow and develop over this past year! Miss Linda has
been working hard to keep the babies busy and they work very hard to
keep her on her toes! Three of our four babies are crawling
and exploring all areas of the classroom! I am very excited to
announce that we are expanding our infant program and will have a
full class of 8 infants starting late August!
I will be
sending out our Fall registration the week of May 18th. Please
complete and return, even if your child will remain on his/her
current schedule. If you know of anyone looking for daycare or
preschool programs, please refer them to our website at todayschild-palatine.com for information on our
programs, tuition, staff, etc. and/or ask them to give me a call and
I will be happy to schedule a tour. At this time, we have
openings in all classes.
Summer Camp plans are under
way! We have recently come to the decision, based on parent
comments, financial concerns, decreased enrollment and the overall
economic situation that we will not be hiring buses for our summer
field trips. Instead our field trips will be, with the
exception of one or two, onsite for our 3's & 4's program and we
will have some off site field trips for the school-age camp using
Metra for transportation. I am very excited to announce that
Miss Debbi has arranged for Carole Peterson, well known children's
musical performer, to provide two weekly movement and music
programs, one for the toddler and 2's class and one for the 3's
& 4's class!! This program will replace our weekly trips
to US Academy of Gymnastics. More information will be coming
soon regarding each camp program and outlining
the events planned!
I would
like to welcome three new families to our school in mid May!
The Taylor family, Rob & Kathy and their children. Adam
attends Pleasant Hill for the afternoon kindergarten program and
Christian who will be joining our 3's class! Also, the
Gallicho family, Chris & Kristin and their son, Declan who will
be joining the toddler class!
The Goettsche family, Ken & Jenny
and their children Riley who will be joining our 3's class and her
newborn brother, Tye who will join our Infant class in
August!
Welcome to our "Today's Child
Family"!
If you have any questions or concerns, as always,
please feel free to contact me.

News from the Infant Class
We had a great month we had. We created lots of Spring
art and look forward to exploring bugs this month.
We
have enjoyed some of the beautiful rain free days, going on walks
and
playing in the backyard!
This months milestones
have been exciting! Lukas S. is crawling and got his first
tooth. Jason is sitting up and will be crawling very
soon. Lucas P. stands alone and has started taking a few
steps. Damian has started eating our lunches and "dines" daily
with Lucas. It is so cute when I announce it is lunch time and
they
crawl over towards the table!!
We are looking
forward to many more sunshiny days filled with more walks and
hopefully lots of play time in the back
yard!

Linda

Wow! What a busy month we had with the Art Show and the
Week of the Young Child! It seems we only just started in September and now our year
is coming to an end. This month we will be talking about Zoo
Animals, Mother's Day, Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes. We will
finish up the month with a week of crazy, mixed up
activities!
Thank
you for all of your support this year! It has been a pleasure
to watch your child grow and develop and getting to know all of
you!

Welcome Spring, finally! It's hard to believe we only
have one month left of preschool! We will be very busy talking
about Insects, Under the Sea, Fairly Tales and Nursery Rhymes.
Our color this month is PURPLE and various shades; lilac, plum,
etc.
This is my last newsletter and I want you to know
how much I have enjoyed your children this year. I have a
special surprise planned for the children later this month, so keep
an eye out for the invitation.
Have a great
summer!

Wow!
It is so hard to believe it is May already! We have had such a
busy month. Thank you to everyone who came to the Art Show and
Family Fest. It was wonderful to see such a great
turnout!
During the Week of the Young Child, we studied the
country of France. The kids can say please, thank you, red,
blue, white and pink along with some numbers in French. We
painted Eiffel Towers. We also learned about the famous
artist, Monet and his painting techniques. We even had a
chance to try it ourselves! We learned that grapes grow in
France. We had a grape taste test and we painted our own grape
bunches. We really enjoyed making and eating Creme'
Brulee!
Can you believe that this is our last month of
preschool? Our themes will include; Under the Sea, Kings,
Queens, Castles and things, Mother Goose and lastly we will have a
mixed up crazy week! During our last crazy week theme, please
feel free to send in anything that your child wants to share
for Show & Tell!

News from the 4's Class
Wow!
May is here! We are putting the final touches on our
graduation program. The children are excited and doing a great
job practicing. Graduation is on Thurs., May 28th at
7:00pm. The graduates need to be at All Saints Lutheran
Church, Quentin Rd., no later than 6:45pm. There is a sign up
sheet on our parent Board in the Annex for anyone interested in
bringing treats for the reception that will immediately follow the
graduation ceremony.
This year has been a wonderful and fast
year! Everyone of the children are more than ready to begin
kindergarten and are quite excited, too. Good luck to
everyone! We will miss those who we will not be seeing during
the summer or the next school year!
